What can I do on this network?
The Infinite Eureka social network is built from a template provided by the clever people at www.ning.com. If you are interested in creating your own network or if you just wish to learn more then be sure to sign up to their 'Ning Network Creators' group.
All members here can:
1. Upload Blog posts
Write on any subject (Using the 'Add blog post' link on your personal page).
2. Upload Photos and Audio files.
Photos appear on your own page and also on viewer the main site homepage. Audio will just appear on your own personal page.
3. Upload Videos.
You can upload your own video files up to 100MB in size. You can also embed a video from any other video sharing website such as Youtube and Google Video. Just click the 'embed video' link under the file upload dialog box when uploading a video and then copy the 'embed' code from the other site (youtube etc.) and paste it into infinite eureka.
4. Talk in forums.
You can create new discussions in any of the forum groups except this one. You can comment on any discussion and also upload file attachments.
5. Personalise your own profile page & add applications.
You can move all of the boxes on your profile page to whichever position you prefer and can also post photos and other web content using HTML into your personal 'box'. The graphical theme for your page is also entirely customisable using the built-in editor or via standard CSS coding in the 'advanced' tab of the editor.
This network now supports OpenSocial applications which can add all kinds of funky capabilities to your page including displaying your facebook or other social network 'status' and displaying a graphical emoticon for your current mood.
6. Create Teams.
You can create and manage a sub-team of people within the network for whichever purpose you like. Examples might include meditation groups, activity groups and/or those who are specifically interested in a particular book, film or anything else.
7. Message, Comment and Chat.
You can send emails to everyone in the network using the built in messaging system. You may also leave comments for people on their pages, blogs, photos and videos. The homepage has a live chat feature at the top-left, just click on a picture of somebody to open a chat window with them.
8. Web links.
There is a list of useful and interesting links in the section marked 'web'. You can join the link sharing group at 'Magnolia' from that 'web' page and add your own links to the list. Only links with certain relevant tags/keywords will appear on the 'web' page at present.
9. Invite your friends.
There is a comprehensive 'invite' tool built into the network to allow you to invite people from your Email address book or other Ning Networks. The more the merrier!
10. Meet like minded people.
There are a lot of very interesting people on the network who's interests probably match yours closely in one way or another. There's no need to fear rejection, say hi! :)
11. ANYTHING else you can think of!
OK, well, perhaps not literally anything, but you can post standard HTML into most of the text boxes on the network, meaning that you can embed just about anything here, from flash movies, adverts, posters and games to entire websites if the inclination should arise in you (I don't personally suggest you do this. lol).
